Most people seem to be either dog people or cat people. I’ve been a dog owner and I’ve been a cat owner. I don’t know that the affection felt from an animal you choose to take in is different, but they express it in similar ways. I think the idea that cats are aloof and don’t care to be with their humans is ….. well the result of lazy cat ownership. Both of my cats are affectionate, though they are not the same. One likes to cuddle, the other doesn’t like it. I had this same experience with my dogs, one was very cuddly and the other wasn’t comfortable with it for more than a few minutes at a time.
Either way, there is something wonderful about an animal looking at you and seeing the love in its eyes or being close to them, knowing they would never hurt you, trusting each other that you never would.
